Chuck - Chiller Challenge 8K - 35:06/7:02

Cold, snowy day for the annual Chiller Challenge. The worst part was the footing. Some parts, especially the last two miles, were weeks-old ice covered by snow.

Mile 1 - 7:07
Mile 2 - 6:55
Mile 3 - 6:58
Mile 4 - 7:05
Mile 5 - 7:00 (7:03 pace)

I got third in my division and 15th (out of 137) overall, beating a lot of runners who had beaten me last year.

Chuck - 5.0/34:55

No Frills Racing Series. It was about 9 degrees outside, but thankfully it was sunny with only a slight breeze. I could have run a bit faster, but I cruised the final mile knowing that I have another race tomorrow. 7:07, 7:00, 6:55, 6:48, 7:05

The goal for tomorrow is 34:45, with a stretch goal of 34:30.

Chuck - 4.0/30:00

Bringing the treadmill up to 10 mph is absolutely nothing right now.

Bob - Back in action

No, i didn't run, but wanted to commit to myself and the blog that I would. What was a cold turned into a nasty little sinus infection and trouble just getting myself out of bed in the morning. Today I finally felt better, and will plan on a couple of short runs this week with maybe a 5-6 miler this weekend.

Can't believe Chuck ran 18 miles, really impressive.

Chuck - 18/2:30

That's right, 18 miles. Two and a half laps around Lake Zorinsky. No problems whatsoever.

With all the running I did in the last couple of years, it seems that I may have crossed into a different class of runner. Not a faster class, just a different one. The fact that I can run virtually no longer distances and then go out and run 18 with no difficulty is strange.

The revised schedule is just to do one more long run one month from now. That will be it before Little Rock.

Ho hum, 4 miles on the treadmill over lunch.

Chuck - 4.0/30:00

4 miles on the treadmill. Apparently Bob (who started this blog) has already given up on training.

Chuck - 5.0/35:01

I was going to run today anyway so I went to the No Frills Racing Series for the first time. "No Frills" because $3 gets you on the course and there are no awards until the end of the year. It was about 20 degrees with snow on the road (which is right next to where we played paintball couple of years back.) I was very pleased with my effort. 7:09, 7:07, 7:06, 6:45, 6:52.

Chuck - 4.0/32:00

Ho hum, 4 miles on the treadmill.

Chuck - 4.0/25:00

Get used to this phrase - "4 miles on the treadmill". I have been gradually increasing the distance that I could do in 25 minutes, beginning at 3.5 and now I'm up to 4.0.

Bob - 5.1/8:53

The start of another running blog.  In looking back to the 2006 Lincoln half marathon, the blog I shared with Chuck helped me stay focused on my training, and turned into neat documentation of the whole process.

Anyway, this was actually my 3rd run of the training program.  Rainy and cool with temps in the lower 50s.  I'm still struggling to find good running routes by my new house - the roads are extremely runner unfriendly.  Little to no shoulder, no sidewalks out here in the country, etc.  With that said, the run felt good and I found some nice flat terrority for about 3 of the 5 miles.
